Buxton Watermill

Buxton Watermill, located on the River Bure near the village of Buxton in Norfolk, is a historic site dating back to at least the Domesday Book. The current structure, built in 1754 by merchant William Pepper, features a four-storey brick design with weatherboard cladding. The mill harnesses the powerful flow of the river, originally using a 16-foot breastshot water wheel, later replaced by a turbine in 1902. The mill has been a vital source of power for grinding animal feed and flour production. Visitors can also explore the Georgian Mill House nearby and learn about the mill's reconstruction after a fire in 1991, making it a fascinating stop for both tourists and researchers interested in industrial heritage.
