Temple Freda (Bryan, Texas)

Temple Freda, established in 1912, is a historic former synagogue located in Bryan, Texas, and is one of the oldest religious buildings still in use in the area. Named after Ethel Freda Kaczer, it is notable for being the only Jewish place of worship named after a woman. The building showcases Greek Revival and Classical Revival architectural styles with Beaux-Arts elements. After a decline in use post-World War II, a community effort initiated in 2013 led to its restoration, transforming it into a venue for community activities rather than religious services.
