Stefan T. Vail Cooperative House

The Stefan T. Vail Cooperative House, located at 602 Lawrence Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan, serves as a housing cooperative for students from the University of Michigan, Washtenaw Community College, and Eastern Michigan University. Established in 1848, this historic building showcases American Greek Revival architecture and is one of only two adobe structures in the city. Originally a family home, it transitioned to a cooperative in 1961 and is notable for its rich history, including its connection to economist Stefan T. Vail, after whom it is named. The house features a magnificent bur oak tree estimated to be over 200 years old, making it a unique spot for visitors interested in history and architecture.
