Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture

The Gantt Center is a museum and cultural center focused on African American art, history, and culture in Charlotte and the broader South. It is named for Harvey Gantt, Charlotte's first Black mayor, and opened in its current uptown building in 2009. The center hosts rotating exhibitions, educational programs, and a permanent collection emphasizing African American creative contributions and civic history. It also preserves archival material and oral histories related to Charlotte's Black community.
