Jahaz Mahal

Jahaz Mahal, or 'Ship Palace', is a stunning 16th-century architectural marvel located in Mehrauli, Delhi, named for its reflection resembling a ship on the adjacent Hauz-i-Shamsi reservoir. Built during the Lodi dynasty, it served as a retreat for emperors and a transit accommodation for pilgrims visiting Muslim shrines. The palace features an impressive courtyard, intricately carved chhatris, and a small mosque. It hosts the vibrant annual Phool Walon Ki Sair festival, celebrating the syncretic culture of India, and offers captivating light and sound shows that transport visitors to the medieval era. Open daily from sunrise to sunset, Jahaz Mahal is easily accessible and is best enjoyed alongside the nearby Mehruli Archeological Park.
