County House, Lifford

The County House, located in Lifford, County Donegal, Ireland, is a historic municipal building with a rich past. Originally built around 1820 as a reformatory school for young offenders, it underwent significant renovations in 1868 under the design of county surveyor William Harte. The building served various purposes over the years, including a barracks for the British Army and later the Free State Army after the establishment of the Irish Free State in 1922. In 1930, it became the administrative headquarters and meeting place for Donegal County Council, making it a key site for local governance.
