Papago Park Hole-in-the-Rock Petroglyphs

The Hole-in-the-Rock formation in Papago Park and surrounding Papago Buttes feature petroglyph panels and other surface archaeological evidence of prehistoric use by Native peoples, including Hohokam-period occupation in the broader area. The natural sandstone outcrop is a well-known local landmark with trails and viewpoints that provide access to visible rock art and archaeological features. The formation and nearby petroglyphs are within Papago Park, adjacent to the Desert Botanical Garden and the Phoenix Zoo.
