Ottumwa Young Women's Christian Association

The Ottumwa Young Women's Christian Association, also known as Your Family Center, is a historic building in Ottumwa, Iowa, significant for its role in supporting young women through safe housing and educational programs since its establishment in 1894. Originally starting with reading and rest rooms, the YWCA expanded to include a boarding house and later acquired a former church building. In 1925, they constructed a Renaissance Revival building designed by the Minneapolis firm Croft & Boerner, featuring distinctive architectural elements and elegant interior finishes. The YWCA has a rich history of collaboration with the local YMCA and was recognized for its historical importance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in social movements and architectural history.
