Iranian National Ion Therapy Center

The Iranian National Ion Therapy Center, located in Karaj, Alborz Province, is an innovative medical and research facility currently under construction. Set to be the first ion therapy center in Iran and West Asia, it aims to provide advanced cancer treatment using heavy ion beams, specifically proton and carbon ions. The project, initiated in the early 2010s and developed in collaboration with Austria's MedAustron, spans over 117,000 m² with an estimated cost of €200 million. The center will feature state-of-the-art treatment rooms, research departments, and engineering support, and is expected to be operational by 2026. This facility represents a significant advancement in cancer therapy, focusing on precision treatment that minimizes damage to healthy tissues.
