Temora (Ellicott City, Maryland)

Temora is a historic Victorian house located in Ellicott City, Maryland, built in 1857 by architect Norris G. Starkweather. This T-shaped, two-story structure features Tuscan-style elements and was originally constructed for Dr. Arthur Pue Jr. The estate, named after Ossian's poems, has a rich history, including notable residents like Laura Hanna and William S. Hanna. In the 1980s, the property underwent minor restoration and hosted a Decorator's Showhouse event. Although plans to convert it into an inn and restaurant were unsuccessful, Temora remains a significant landmark, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976, and offers insights into the architectural and cultural heritage of the region.
