Excite Ballpark and the San Jose Giants' longtime home

Excite Ballpark, originally San Jose Municipal Stadium, opened in 1942 and has been the longtime site of professional baseball in San Jose. The San Jose Giants, the San Francisco Giants' Class A affiliate, have played their home games at the ballpark since the franchise relocated to San Jose in 1988. The stadium has hosted thousands of minor-league games as well as community and collegiate events over many decades. It is a central venue in San Jose's baseball history.
