Fort Alice

Fort Alice, located in Simanggang, Sarawak, Malaysia, is a historic fort built in 1864 by the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke. Named after Margaret Alice Lili de Windt, the fort played a crucial role in defending the Brooke government's interests and maintaining regional peace. Its strategic position allowed for monitoring river traffic and suppressing piracy. The fort features durable belian wood construction, thick walls, and a commanding view of the river. After being restored and reopened as the Sri Aman Heritage Museum in 2015, Fort Alice now serves as a significant educational resource, showcasing the colonial history of Sarawak and attracting tourists interested in the region's past.
