Medical Arts Building (Atlanta)

The Medical Arts Building, a historic Beaux-Arts structure in Downtown Atlanta, was completed in 1927 and designed by architect G. Lloyd Preacher. Once a hub for modern medical facilities, it also housed a cafeteria, drugstore, and telegraph office, and was notable for having one of the first covered parking garages. Despite its grandeur, the building has been vacant since 1995 and has faced numerous challenges, including a significant fire in 2005. It was designated a Landmark Building in 2005 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. The building remains a focal point for preservation efforts, as it is one of the last unrenovated structures from a list of downtown 'eyesores' and is included on The Georgia Trust's list of Places in Peril.
