Eden (Gardner, Louisiana)

Eden is a historic house located near Gardner, Louisiana, believed to have been built around 1850, though family history suggests a possible construction date of 1830. This central hall plan house features a two-room depth and a rear ell wing, showcasing original architectural elements such as four chimneys and aedicule style mantels that have survived since its addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Situated off Highway 121, approximately 4 miles from Boyce, Eden is part of a study of Neo-Classical farm-plantation houses along Bayou Rapides and has undergone modifications, including a false gallery for rain protection, which slightly alters its original appearance.
