The Menil Collection building

The Menil Collection building was designed by architect Renzo Piano and opened in 1987 as a low-profile museum complex in the Montrose neighborhood. The design emphasizes diffuse natural light through a system of skylights and louvers to protect works on paper and paintings. The campus houses the art collection assembled by John and Dominique de Menil and is integrated into a residential block. Admission to the Menil Collection is free to the public.
