Former Phoenix Indian School (Steele Indian School Park)

The Phoenix Indian School operated on this site from 1891 until its closure in 1990 as a federally run boarding school for Native American children. The campus was redeveloped as Steele Indian School Park, which opened in 2001 and preserves the original layout and some historic buildings. The park is used for public events and hosts periodic Indigenous cultural programs and commemorations that reference the site's history.
