Eli Ulery House

The Eli Ulery House, built around 1860, is a historic Italianate-style home located southeast of Mount Zion, Illinois. Constructed for early settler Eli Ulery, who transitioned from cowboy to prosperous cattle farmer, the house showcases distinctive architectural features such as bracketed eaves and a cupola. By the time of his death in 1897, Ulery had significantly expanded his agricultural ventures, including horse breeding and crop farming. His legacy continued through his son, who contributed to the community by donating land for a Chautauqua park. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
