Death of Abraham Lincoln at Petersen House

After being shot at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was carried across the street to the Petersen House, a boarding house at 516 10th St NW. Physicians attended Lincoln there through the night, and he was pronounced dead on the morning of April 15, 1865. The Petersen House is preserved today as part of the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site.
