The Mapparium (three-story stained-glass globe)

The Mapparium is a three-story stained-glass globe inside the Mary Baker Eddy Library that visitors view from a central glass walkway. Completed and opened to the public in 1935, the installation displays a world map rendered in stained glass reflecting political boundaries of the era. The interior acoustics produce unusual whispering-gallery effects that are part of the visitor experience. The Mapparium is maintained as a historic, walk-in globe and offers guided tours.
