Elfreth's Alley ghost stories

Elfreth's Alley, a historic block in Old City often promoted as the nation's oldest continuously inhabited residential street, is frequently featured on Philadelphia ghost tours and in local folklore. Anecdotal accounts and tour narratives recount phantom footsteps, transient cold spots, and sightings attributed to former residents from the 18th and 19th centuries; these reports are part of oral tradition and tourism storytelling rather than documented evidence.
