Sulphur Dell's famously sloped outfield

Sulphur Dell, the historic baseball park on the site now occupied by First Horizon Park, was known for its pronounced sloping outfield terrain and unusual field dimensions. The slope and quirks of the field produced distinctive ground rules and affected play for the Nashville Vols and other teams that used the ballpark until it closed in 1963. The topography of Sulphur Dell remains a frequently cited feature in accounts of Nashville baseball history.
