Benjamin James House

The Benjamin James House, located in Hampton, New Hampshire, is a historic house museum built in 1723, recognized as the oldest surviving example of the five-bay Georgian Colonial style in the state. This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure features a central chimney and a two-story ell, showcasing early American construction techniques. Originally built by Benjamin James, a weaver, the house remained in his family until 1931 and has undergone various alterations over the years. Now owned by a nonprofit organization, it is open for tours from May to October, offering visitors a glimpse into colonial life and architecture. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
