Wakefield Exchange

Wakefield Exchange is a modern public building located in the heart of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. Designed by renowned architect David Adjaye and completed in May 2008, it originally served as a market hall featuring glulam columns and beams, with a striking cedar wood and glass facade. Despite its innovative design, the market struggled to attract visitors, leading to plans for demolition in 2014. However, the building was ultimately preserved and transformed into an events venue, featuring restaurants, a brewery, and creative business spaces, making it a vibrant destination for tourists and locals alike.
