5Pointz aerosol-art complex (Long Island City)

5Pointz, at 45–46 Davis Street in Long Island City, was an outdoor aerosol-art space where thousands of graffiti artists painted large-scale murals across a warehouse complex. In November 2013 the site's owner whitewashed many of the murals ahead of planned demolition, and photographs of the whitewashing and of the murals themselves circulated widely online. The building was subsequently demolished in 2014; images and archival photos of 5Pointz remain frequently shared in discussions of street art and urban change.
