Lincoln Memorial marble and statue materials

The Lincoln Memorial's exterior is faced with Yule marble quarried in Colorado, while interior elements include Indiana limestone. The 19-foot seated statue of Abraham Lincoln was carved from white Georgia marble quarried in Tate, Georgia. These material choices are recorded in the memorial's construction documentation from 1914–1922.
