McNay Art Museum and Marion Koogler McNay

The McNay Art Museum was founded with the bequest of Marion Koogler McNay, an early 20th-century art collector and philanthropist from San Antonio who left her Spanish Revival estate and collection to the city. The museum opened in 1954 as the first modern art museum in Texas and continues to display McNay's original collection alongside subsequent acquisitions. The site preserves her role in creating an institutional home for modern and contemporary art in San Antonio.
