National Museum of American History building and the Star-Spangled Banner

The Smithsonian National Museum of American History building at 1300 Constitution Avenue NW houses the original Star-Spangled Banner flag that flew over Fort McHenry in 1814. The museum's collections also include presidential artifacts, inaugural gowns, and objects documenting U.S. social, cultural, and technological history. It is part of the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall and has hosted major national exhibitions since the building opened.
