Old North Church - lantern signal of 1775

Christ Church in the City of Boston, commonly known as Old North Church, was built in 1723 and is the city's oldest surviving church building. On the night of April 18, 1775, lanterns were displayed in its steeple to signal the route British troops would take; this signal is tied to Paul Revere's ride to warn colonial militias. The church remains an active parish and a historic site interpreting its Revolutionary War role.
