Glenwood is a historic plantation located near Enon, North Carolina, featuring a Greek Revival house built in 1837 by Tyre Glen, who once owned 360 slaves and 6,000 acres. The estate includes a 15-room house with Doric columns and several outbuildings, all restored in the late 20th century. Glenwood served as a cultural hub, hosting notable visitors like Governor Zebulon Vance. The plantation played a significant role during the Civil War, experiencing multiple raids and serving as a refuge for Union soldiers. Today, it remains a privately owned residence, with historical records available at Duke University and the University of North Carolina, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
