Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier (Scripps Pier)

The Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier is a long research pier operated by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography on the La Jolla shore, used for oceanographic monitoring, experiments, and marine biology fieldwork. The pier supports long-term data collection programs and provides infrastructure for faculty and student research as well as occasional educational demonstrations. While visible from shore as a coastal landmark, public access to the pier can be limited when research activities are underway.
