Hotel Royal, Copenhagen

Hotel Royal, a former hotel in central Copenhagen, operated from 1798 until 1876 and is notable for its Neoclassical architecture. Originally a town house, it evolved into an inn known as Fortunen before being rebuilt as Hotel Royal after the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. The hotel hosted many famous guests, including writers Hans Christian Andersen and Jenny Lind. After its closure as a hotel, the building served as a publishing house and is now home to the Nordic Council's operations. Visitors can still enjoy the restaurant Fortunen located in the basement, which offers a glimpse into the building's rich history.
