Copper Creek Guard Station

The Copper Creek Guard Station, built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, is a historic site located near Black Canyon City, Arizona. Recognized for its Bungalow/Craftsman architectural style, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Originally serving as a camp and government office for Forest Service employees, it played a crucial role in facilitating access to remote forest work sites during the 1920s and 1930s. As road networks improved post-World War II, the need for such guard stations diminished, leading to many being abandoned. However, preservation efforts in the 1990s have allowed for the restoration and rental of this unique structure, making it an interesting destination for tourists and researchers alike.
