Rainier Tower's inverted pedestal

Rainier Tower (formerly Rainier Tower / Rainier Bank Tower), completed in 1977 and designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, is notable for its narrow concrete pedestal that makes the 31-story office tower appear to balance on a slim base.
