The Alamo (Shrine of Texas Liberty)

The Alamo is an 18th-century Spanish mission and fortress in downtown San Antonio that was the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. It has long been popularly known as the "Shrine of Texas Liberty." The complex includes the mission chapel and surviving mission structures and is preserved and interpreted as a museum and historic site. The Alamo is one of the most visited historic sites in Texas.
