Old State House - colonial seat and Declaration reading

The Old State House, completed in 1713, served as the seat of colonial government in Massachusetts. It overlooks the site associated with the 1770 Boston Massacre, and its balcony was used to read the Declaration of Independence to Bostonians on July 18, 1776. The building is preserved as a museum interpreting Boston and colonial history and is a National Historic Landmark.
