Central Saloon and Seattle's early grunge scene

The Central Saloon in Pioneer Square opened in 1892 and advertises itself as one of Seattle's oldest bars; it has been a longstanding live-music venue in the city. In the late 1980s and early 1990s the bar hosted many local bands associated with the emerging grunge scene, and it is frequently mentioned in historical accounts of that music movement. The venue remains active and is part of Seattle's documented music-culture history.
