Fort Lawton military ruins in Discovery Park

Fort Lawton was a U.S. Army post established in the early 20th century whose concrete gun batteries, ramps, and some service buildings survive within what is now Discovery Park. Portions of the former military infrastructure remain visible as weathered concrete and masonry ruins amid park trails. Much of the Fort Lawton land was transferred to the City of Seattle for park use in the 1970s, preserving these remnants within the park landscape.
