97 Bowery

97 Bowery is a historic five-story loft building located in Manhattan's Chinatown, designed in the Italianate style by architect Peter L.P. Tostevin and completed in 1869. Originally built for John P. Jube & Co., it features a distinctive cast-iron facade from the J. B. & W. W. Cornell Iron Works, showcasing typical construction techniques of the 1850s and 1860s. Once the commercial heart of the Lower East Side, the Bowery remains a significant landmark, with 97 Bowery being one of the few surviving examples of cast-iron architecture in the area. It was designated a New York City Landmark in 2010, highlighting its historical and architectural importance.
