Florence Institute

The Florence Institute for Boys, affectionately known as The Florrie, is a historic Grade II listed building located in the Dingle area of Liverpool, England. Established in 1889 as a memorial to Sir Bernard Hall's daughter, Florence, it was the first building in Britain specifically designed as a boys' youth club. The Florrie served the local community for over a century, offering recreational activities and support to working and unemployed youth. After a period of decline and disrepair, a community-led initiative successfully restored the building, which now features a 300-seater auditorium, gym, café, and library. Officially reopened by the Prince of Wales in 2013, the institute continues to serve as a vibrant community center, showcasing the rich history and resilience of Liverpool.
