Tenement house with a wine shop

The Tenement House with a Wine Shop, located at Stoleshnikov Lane in Moscow, is a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture, built in 1903 by architect A. Erichson. This historical building, recognized as a cultural heritage site, features a richly decorated facade with stone and bronze elements, including unique female herms entwined in grapevines, symbolizing its wine merchant heritage. Originally home to a famous wine shop mentioned in Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina', the building has a fascinating history, transitioning from a private estate owned by notable figures to a Soviet department store. Today, while the wine shop is no longer in operation, the building continues to serve as a significant architectural landmark and houses the Main Directorate of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Moscow Region.
