Barton Springs Pool and endemic salamander

Barton Springs Pool is a spring-fed municipal pool in Zilker Park fed by the Edwards Aquifer and maintained by the City of Austin for public swimming. The water temperature is roughly 68–70°F year-round, which is a draw for regular local swimmers. The pool and nearby spring outlets are habitat for the federally listed Barton Springs salamander (Eurycea sosorum), a species endemic to the Barton Springs segment of the aquifer.
