Union Station and architect Daniel Burnham

Washington Union Station was designed by architect Daniel H. Burnham and opened to the public in 1907 as a grand rail hub for the nation's capital. The station's Beaux-Arts design and large train concourse reflected Burnham's emphasis on monumental civic architecture.
