Archaeological remains of outbuildings and enslaved quarters at Decatur House

Archaeological investigations behind Decatur House have uncovered foundations and features of 19th-century outbuildings and service spaces. Excavations produced artifacts and structural evidence that document enslaved and domestic labor occurring on the property during the early-to-mid 1800s.
