Steele Creek Roadhouse

The Steele Creek Roadhouse is a historic site in east-central Alaska, located along the scenic Fortymile River. This two-story log structure, built around 1898 with an addition in 1910, served as a vital stop for travelers on the route between Eagle and Chicken until the Taylor Highway was rerouted in 1951. Accessible by hiking trail or river, the roadhouse offers a glimpse into the region's rich history and was restored in 2011. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, making it a noteworthy destination for tourists and researchers interested in Alaska's past.
