Tudor Place - Early Republic Mansion and Gardens

Tudor Place was built beginning in 1816 as the home of Martha Parke Custis Peter, a granddaughter of Martha Washington, and contains Federal-period architecture, original furnishings, and extensive ornamental gardens. The estate is designated a National Historic Landmark and interprets over two centuries of history, including the lives of the Peter family and the enslaved and free people who lived and worked there. The site is operated as a historic house museum by the Tudor Place Foundation and preserves documented archives and collections related to the early Republic.
