Eltham Manor

Eltham Manor is a historic estate located near Bassett, Virginia, built in 1936 by William McKinley Bassett. This Colonial Revival brick dwelling is named after the Burwell Bassett family's earlier home, Eltham Plantation, which tragically burned down in 1879. The manor features a distinctive 2+1⁄2-story central section with five bays, flanked by two-story wings and connected by hyphens to a garage and servant's quarters. Visitors can admire its elegant front facade, which boasts a Doric order portico with smooth columns. The estate also includes a barn and a picturesque lake, both dating back to its construction year. Eltham Manor was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
