Kaiser Mountains

The Kaiser Mountains, known as the Emperor Mountains, are a stunning mountain range located in Tyrol, Austria, part of the Northern Limestone Alps. This picturesque area features two main ridges: the Wilder Kaiser, characterized by its rugged limestone peaks, and the Zahmer Kaiser, which is adorned with lush mountain pine. Spanning approximately 20 km in length and 14 km in width, the range is home to the highest peak, Ellmauer Halt, reaching 2,344 meters. The region is a protected nature reserve, rich in biodiversity, boasting around 940 flowering plants and various unique wildlife. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery, hiking opportunities, and the tranquility of the Kaisertal valley, which was historically isolated until the opening of a private road in 2008. The Kaiser Mountains are not only a haven for outdoor enthusiasts but also a site of historical significance, with evidence of human settlement dating back thousands of years.
