Alexander Milne Calder's City Hall sculptures

Philadelphia City Hall's exterior and tower are adorned with more than 250 sculptures by Alexander Milne Calder. The figures include allegorical personifications, animals, and portraits of historical and civic figures integrated into the building's architectural program. These sculptures were created during City Hall's late-19th-century construction and constitute one of the largest single-building sculptural programs in the United States.
