Kubur Kassim

Kubur Kassim is a historic Muslim cemetery located in the Siglap neighbourhood of Singapore's East Region. Established in 1921, it is no longer used for burials but remains accessible to the public. The cemetery is notable for its unique Indo-Saracenic architectural gateway and the unusual square-shaped graves. It houses the remains of prominent figures, including Hafeezudin Sirajuddin Moonshi, the first Muslim doctor to open a clinic in Singapore, and Khwaja Habibullah Shah, a revered Sufi mystic. Visitors can also find a surau for prayers and a Sufi lodge still in use today. The cemetery is steeped in local folklore, with legends of the mythological Orang Bunian adding to its mystique, making it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers interested in Singapore's cultural heritage.
