Flamingo (Alexander Calder)

Flamingo is a painted steel stabile by Alexander Calder installed in Federal Plaza in 1974. The large red sculpture occupies the plaza in front of the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse and is a notable example of Calder's public commissions in New York City. The work is maintained as a permanent public artwork in the civic plaza.
